The redevelopment of the Ōpōtiki Harbour and Wharf as a pivotal marine and recreational hub in the Bay of Plenty, serves as a prime example of the vital role community engagement plays in project management.
Ōpōtiki Harbour and Wharf will become a high-quality gateway to the marine environment of the eastern Bay of Plenty, providing a range of facilities for residents and visitors to enable them to enjoy the natural environment, whilst contributing to the vibrancy and economic health of both Ōpōtiki town centre and the town as a whole, to the improvement the natural environment and showing respect to cultural values.

Collaboration with Richard Knott Urban Design on the masterplan vision with client and partner teams Ōpōtiki District Council staff, the Harbour Project Team, Whakatōhea Māori Trust Board and Ōpōtiki Coastguard. The Ōpōtiki harbour is a high-quality gateway to the marine environment of the Eastern Bay of Plenty, providing a range of facilities for residents and visitors. Our masterplan integrated strategic linkages, Whakatōhea Māori Trust Board advice, marine engineering and community aspirations. The final masterplan revitalised the wharf, established a new public boat launching facility, and identified phased implementation programme to coincide with the Harbour redevelopment.
