The ‘Hurunui Pathway’ created a public promenade and open space with large specimen canopy trees and information tables that celebrate local stories and historical narratives of the people and places of Amberley and the wider Hurunui District. Promenade works included upgrading the frontage of Chamberlain Park's public open space and the surroundings to the historic Cob Cottage with accent lighting and a rose garden.
Northern and southern entrance areas of the town on State Highway 1 (SH1) were reimagined with planting, signage and lighting as an attractive threshold and visual identifier for the entrance experience.
The programme scope included presentations to Hurunui District Councillors and, open days with community residents, coordination with NZTA and statutory agencies. Scope and design documentation for construction included roading, drainage, structures, street furniture + signage, planting and lighting, managing the tender process and construction supervision services.
